Kingsland Business Society Inc

Our Business Focus:  To make Kingsland a better place to do business, to visit and to live.

Kingsland Business Society was formed in 2005 as an incorporated society by businesses in Kingsland village that wanted to work together on shared promotion and events.

In March 2010 businesses in the wider area of the ‘Kingsland Enterprise Corridor’ - New North Road adjacent to the railway line and surrounding streets from Dominion Road to Morningside - voted to form a Business Improvement District (BID) in partnership with Auckland Council.   The motivation behind this was to provide a collective voice for businesses and landlords, collective marketing and collective action for business improvement activities in the area.

Business Improvement District

Through the Business Improvement District (BID) programme, Auckland Council  works with 48 business districts to improve the local business environment and grow the regional economy.  

The Kingsland  BID programme is funded by an extra levy on Council rates of business-zoned properties in the defined area of the Kingsland Enterprise Corridor – click link for map.   


Kingsland Business Society is governed by an Executive Board of members elected from business-zoned property owners or tenants, business owners or managers within the boundaries of Kingsland BID.

The Board includes a non-voting representative from Albert-Eden Local Board and it has an appointed Manager.

strategic plan 2016-2018

In July 2016 the KBSI Board commissioned a review of its strategic plan, which was established five years previously after consultation with stakeholder groups.  Five key topic strands have now been developed as an outline Kingsland Strategic Plan with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that are measurable success factors for each of the five pillars. This is a concise and easily understood document which was presented at the AGM and is available for discussion with members - please email
